Hot Spots

Location: Kunsthaus Zürich, Switzerland

Client: Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft

Completion: February 2009

Brief: To create a layout and display for the exhibition “Hot Spots”

Starting point: The 1300m² rectangular open space dedicated to the temporary exhibitions with 6.5m high ceiling in glass.

The exhibition is devoted to the artistic avant-garde of the 1950s and 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, Milan-Turin, and Los Angeles. All three “Time & Place” exhibitions are here gathered as one show curated by Tobia Bezzola, featuring outstanding works of visual art, photography, design and architecture. The design is about giving each “city-chapter” a space fitting its character, while controlling the flow and creating an exciting path through the three parts of the exhibition, also providing a central “cut” through the entire length of the 70 meter gallery allowing certain visual access between the different sections for historical cross-referencing.
