Fjällnäs Est.1882, Tänndalen, Sweden
The task to redesign and refurbish the main building of Fjällnäs Est. 1882, Sweden’s oldest mountain hotel, loved by generations of mountain lovers, was at the same time an honour and a challenge. Much care was given to keep the inn’s legendary character, while updating and re-thinking key functions like the entrance, the reception, the bar and not the least the restaurant. The new floor plan is open, offering flexibility and good flow while maintaining the cosy and intimate atmosphere Fjällnäs is famous for. For the new walls, ceilings and floors, reclaimed local pine was used and all joineries were custom made locally in Härjedalen. Among the furniture and fittings you find numerous Swedish design classics.
