Mountain House in Jämtland, Sweden
This two story house sitting next to a ski slope in Edsåsdalen contains a large open space on its upper level, including living, dining and kitchen space and has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a sauna. The façade material and interior wall panelling are heat treated pine, and the floor is rustic Swedish oak. You access the house via a footbridge that brings you straight to the upper floor with its social spaces. Despite the steep grounds the house is built on, all rooms – even the bedroom facing the mountain – has windows on at least two sides, inviting the constantly shifting mountain light to activate every corner of the building. The general feeling of the house is rustic but still modern, functional, but at the same time warm and cosy.
