Time & Place Los Angeles 1958-68, Moderna Museet, Stockholm
This was the last exhibition in a series of three celebrating the Moderna Museet’s 50th Anniversary, focusing on the Janus-faced character of Los Angeles art, on one side sunny and optimistic, on the other dark and dystopian. There was also a strong presence of architecture and design– a section of the exhibition that Shaygan Arkitektkontor also advised on. The play between inside and outside, so typical for the Case Study Houses of LA became obvious already in the lobby outside the exhibition, with plants, lounge chairs and a theme of white ceiling profiles through which the light filtered, like sunshine – a theme that was followed up in an articulate way also inside the exhibition.
